Cameesa and Inclusiveness [Life Teachings]

Written by Kamil on March 27th, 2009

The Buddha gave a very beautiful example:

Suppose you have a bowl of water and someone put a handful of salt in the bowl of water; it would be too salty for you to drink.  But suppose someone threw a handful of salt into a clean mountain river.  The river is deep and wide enough that you can still drink the water without tasting the salt.

When your heart is small, you suffer a lot.  But when your heart becomes bigger, very big, then the same thing does not make you suffer anymore.

At Cameesa, we try to embrace everyone, everything, without excluding anyone in order for our hearts to grow really REALLY BIG.  So we will not be able to suffer from the small things.

HeadHoods

Written by Viktor on March 23rd, 2009

I had a good chuckle when I came across HeadHoods for a number of reasons: the selected prints, the creative print placement, the animated product shots, etc. I also had one of those “why didn’t I think of that?” moments. The Cameesa team is always on the look-out for new ideas especially when it comes to creative printing techniques and product offering. I think I’m going to pick up the Lego-man head hood.

HeadHoods are hand printed on American Apparel hoodies by artist and musician Clinton Van Gemert in Brooklyn, New York.

Who We Use for PR [Cameesa Inside Info]

Written by Andy on March 23rd, 2009

PRWe have been fortunate enough to be covered by some major media outlets like Time Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, and CNET.  I often get asked how we get such major coverage and which agency we use for our PR.  Well, today I shall receive our secrets.

Our PR firm is named “Chmielewski and Bezic Productions”.  They have done an incredible job getting our name out there and getting people to talk about us.  They understand the industry and the web incredibly well.  They do whatever it takes.

You should definitely look them up if you are searching for PR representation.  However, they are not for hire.  Astute readers will recognize “Chmielewski and Bezic Productions”:

Kamil Chmielewski - Lead Developer, Partner at Cameesa
Viktor Bezic - Lead Designer, Partner at Cameesa

That’s right.  We have no PR agency.  Our product is the agency.  We never pitched Time Magazine or the Wall Street Journal, they came to us.

I think this speaks volumes about the work done by Kamil and Viktor.   Our website looks good enough and functions well enough to speak entirely for itself.  When someone new comes to the site, they are able to grasp the concept and understand what we are doing.  They are able to easily navigate the site and interact.  This makes it very inviting for press coverage.

Bravo to “Chmielewski and Bezic Productions” for landing us more great press coverage!

I am very proud to say that Cameesa was featured in an article in the Wall Street Journal about crowdfunding:

This is especially great for our amazing artists, as they will get more exposure for their work.

I can’t believe how far we’ve come along together, and am very excited for the future!

It was great reading all of your comments, they brought me way back.  Growing up as a foreigner (I came to Canada when I was nine) I always felt like I needed to learn the language well, so I resorted to reading and ESL (English as a Second Language) classes.  It’s always fun to look back where we came from.

Congratulations IKKINLALA, and we wish you the best of luck in the next round which will be held once all of the Book-lover blogs have reported their winners.

You will receive 1 entry into the giveaway for talking about your experience below, and 2 entries for writing about this giveaway and linking back to this post.

Talk about the books/series you loved to read as a child. How did you get these books/series? (ie. library, from parents) Who influenced you to read them?  How did reading these books made you feel?  Feel free to get into as much detail as you wish, escape.

Here is my experience:

I first fell in love with reading when I lived in Oakville, Ontario and was about 11 years old.  I read the entire “Nate the Great” series….over and over again.

Nate the Great series

I remember walking solo from our apartment building to the library (20 minute walk), and then reading every “Nate the Great” book that I could get my hands on. I loved trying to solve each of Nate’s mysteries, and felt very engaged in the series.  One of my ESL friends, Czesiek, turned me onto this series.  In retrospect, I still don’t understand how my parents never noticed my all-day adventures to the library, maybe they knew.  Thinking of this takes me way back…wow.

 What’s your experience?
